Upsensed is a luxury home fragrance brand created to make everyday moments feel more intentional.
Our candles are designed with captivating scent, elevated design, and emotional connection in mind. Each fragrance is created to shift the atmosphere of your space to help you slow down, reset, reflect, or simply make your home feel more like your own.
Upsensed was created with a purpose deeper than fragrance.
Mental health awareness is at the heart of our brand. Through our partnership with the Anxiety & Depression Association of America, we donate 5% of proceeds to support access to mental health resources and help continue the conversation around anxiety, depression, and emotional wellness.
We believe a candle cannot replace real mental health care, but it can become part of a meaningful ritual, and serve as a reminder to breathe before life asks you to keep going.
Upsensed exists for the people creating beauty, calm, and intention in the middle of real life.
About Our Founder
Mikayla Tani is a labor and delivery nurse, mother of two, and the founder of Upsensed. Raised in East Texas, Mikayla attended nursing school in Tyler before moving to Houston in 2017, where she began working in the Texas Medical Center.
With 10 years of nursing experience, Mikayla has spent much of her career caring for women and families during some of life’s most emotional and transformative moments. In 2021, just one month after giving birth to her first son, she graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing from Western Governors University.
After years of balancing motherhood, nursing, and her own mental health journey, Mikayla began making candles as a creative outlet — a way to slow down, reconnect with herself, and turn her love of fragrance into something meaningful. What started as a personal ritual eventually became the foundation for Upsensed.
Today, Mikayla works part time as a labor and delivery nurse while dedicating the rest of her time to building Upsensed, developing fragrances, refining products, shaping the brand’s creative direction, and raising her two boys. Her work is rooted in the belief that fragrance can be more than something beautiful in the home — it can be part of a ritual, a pause, and a reminder to care for yourself with intention.
